  • Take some type of pain medication before the anesthesia wears off, Ibuprofen, Advil or Motrin can be alternated with prescribed pain medication.
  • If you have been given antibiotics continue taking them until they are all gone.
  • You should expect tenderness to biting and chewing up to 14 days after treatment is completed. If you have swelling, it is normal as long as your not running a fever. You can apply ice to the outside of your face as needed.
  • Continue to brush and floss as you normally would, unless advised otherwise.
  • All fillings and crowns placed in this office are temporary. You will need to contact your referring dentist within 2 weeks after treatment is completed to get final restoration.
  • Patients who will be using Xanax are not to make any legal decisions, or drive for a period of 24 hours.
  • If you have been instructed to do warm salt water rinses do so as follow:
    Mix 1 tsp table salt in an 8oz glass of warm water, rinse every hour for 60 seconds until anesthesia wears off and the tooth becomes comfortable. After the tooth becomes comfortable, rinsing should be done after meals and before bedtime
  • If you have a problem that you have not been told to expect, call the office and ask to speak with a clinical staff member for information.
